The March Toscana Student of the Month is Liza Lee, a Senior at Delaware County Christian School (DCCS). Liza received a Certificate of Achievement and a Gift Certificate from Toscana Modern Italian Steakhouse, our Sponsor of this program.
Liza has many varied interests that keep her both busy and motivated. One thing Liza loves participating in each year is her school’s Mock Trial team. After the team gets the case they’re to work on, the defense and prosecution teams are formed. This includes choosing team members to work as attorneys, who then present the case to the mock judge and jury. This year, Liza is thrilled to be a defense attorney for the first time, so she’ll get to do both direct and cross examination of the defendant and witnesses.
As a member of her school’s cross country track team, Liza finds that running long distances helps her think. And having played the flute for her school’s band since 4th grade, she is now a Section Leader. As a DCCS Student Ambassador, she enjoys welcoming and giving tours to prospective and new students. She also loves participating in her school’s Christmas Child project. Each year for the holidays, students each fill a shoebox full of toys and other fun things, to send to children who otherwise wouldn’t get any presents.
Liza also volunteers at her church, to help care for toddlers while their parents attend church services or activities. She also helps out with the planning and implementation of the church’s annual One Meal, which helps feed the homeless and food insecure in the Delaware County area.
Liza’s big plans for her future include majoring in Biology in college, and following in the footsteps of other family members who work in the sciences.
Liza, your Marple Newtown Friends & Neighbors congratulate you on this award, and thank you for all that you do to bring joy to others. We wish you well in all your future endeavors!
