This month, we are proud to shine the spotlight on Sloane Smith, a rising Junior at Marple Newtown High School, as our July Casey’s Student of the Month! Sloane is an outstanding example of a well-rounded student whose dedication to academics, athletics and community service truly sets her apart.
Recently inducted into the National Honor Society, Sloane is excited about the opportunity to further demonstrate both her academic commitment and her involvement within the community.
Sloane is actively involved in the Best Buddies program and also serves as Vice President of Marple Civic Youth. Through this organization, she helps coordinate and participate in a variety of community-focused projects, including the 8th-grade dance, rose garden ceremonies honoring loved ones, providing childcare during Worrall PTO meetings and participating in teen cook nights that prepare meals for those in need.
Athletics are another major part of Sloane’s life. She competes in cross country, winter track and spring track, and has already achieved remarkable success. After just one season of summer and fall training, Sloane placed 4th at the PIAA Cross Country State Championship, an incredible accomplishment that highlights both her natural talent and dedication. During indoor track season, she also earned an 8th-place finish in the 3K State Championship held at Penn State University.
Looking ahead, Sloane hopes to attend an East Coast college where she can continue running while majoring in neuroscience. Among the schools she is considering are the University of Pittsburgh, Drexel University, Ithaca College and Boston College.
Sloane, your hard work, kindness and determination make you a wonderful role model for your peers. We look forward to seeing all the incredible things you accomplish in the future.

We’re looking for students in grades 7–12 who make a difference in their schools, communities, among friends or through local organizations. Nominees must live in Marple, Newtown Square or Edgmont, no matter which school they attend—or if they’re homeschooled. Email LJeffries@BestVersionMedia.com.
